Sensei Colin Gillingham first started training Karate in 1975 at a local karate club practicing Shotokan style Karate.
After five years he decided to broaden his horizon, which led to his progression onto Shukokai Karate, training in Poole under Shihan Lionel Marinus 8th Dan (KSI joint World Chief Instructor).
This eventually led to his training under Shihan E.Daniels 8th Dan,who was a student of the late Master Kimura 10th Dan World Chief Instructor for Shukokai Karate.
Shihan Daniels has been his instructor for over 20 years during which time Sensei Colin Gillingham has attended countless training courses and also competed in tournaments at local and national level.
Sensei Colin Gillingham was also fortunate enough to have trained many times and be graded under the late Master Kimura.
The main emphasis of Sensei C. Gillingham's teaching is on training for the true Martial Art, where self-discipline,etiquette and respect are of prime importance. Without these aspects a student cannot develop the type of character necessary to follow the way of the Martial Art.
